Ljoskur from Red Hill (Svartbakur Holum x Lif Red Hill) US2007103644: “ Maybe” 5 gaited palomino Stud colt. He has loads of tolt, great conformation, easy disposition and Svartbakurs’ amazing gaits: Scored very high for movements at the young horse evaluations in September. He stands for the farrier, loads, leads and is very easy to handle. $2,200.00/OBO
Reifur fra Alfasaga (Morgunn Alfasaga X Kolbrun Flesjustodum) US2005103143: New Pictures! 5 gaited silver bay stallion. Reifur started training on Feb 8th. He's been ridden out on trails, alone and has very clean gaits and easy tolt. He's proven to be braver than my intial impression and has proceeded with his training without incident. Vakar is his grandsire, his dam’s sire is 1st prize Blaer Hofdi. $4,000.00/OBO
Stefnir fra Alfasaga (Snerrir Kjarnholtum X Glaest Krossi) US2006103523: 5 gaited black/brown gelding with a star and snip. He’s got wonderful character, 5 gaits and beauty too. He’s a full brother to Kveikur (Carol Bs’ Koki) and Naskur (Nancy Marie B.) Video is posted on youtube. Auction starts September 22, 2009, runs to October 1st 2009. Opening bid $250.00.
Svartbakur fra Holum (Hrafn 802 Holtsmula X Kria 6311 Laekamoti) US1996101805: 5 gaited black and white pinto stallion. I first saw Svartbakur and Tjaldur in a pasture in the south of Iceland during the summer of 1997. They were 1 and 2 years old at the time, almost matching in color/pattern and both obviously very talented. Nothing that’s happened since then has caused me to reevaluate that initial impression. I ended up purchasing Svartbakur, primarily because his sire was Hrafn, and Tjaldur had Hrafn as a grandsire thru Kolfinnur (another great horse!). I believe 1995 was Hrafns last breeding season… Looking back over my horse purchases during the past 20 years – Svartbakur may have been the best. He’s been pretty much booked for the past 5 years, his offspring have made 1st prize at a higher % than any 1st prize stallion I’ve owned and he consistently passes on his gaits and character. This is a terrific horse, very personable and a great ride. Joi at Gauksmyri, in northern Iceland, once told me “if Svartbakur were still in Iceland, we’d use him on our mares exclusively” (2 of Joi’s Svartbakur offspring went 1st prize in Iceland). Svartbakur babies have even made it to Australia. $15,000.00
Thrain fra Alfasaga (Morgunn Alfasaga X Hrund Sodulsholti) registration in process: 2007 5 gaited bay gelding: Thrain is very large and has the most expansive gaits of any of our 2 year olds. (See his 2 videos on youTube). Leads, loads and stands for the farrier. Competition horse quality. Auction starts September 22, 2009, runs to October 1st 2009. Opening bid $250.00.
Hekla from Red Hill (Fengur Stokkseyri X SC Hending) US97201051: 4 gaited Black mare, with all basic training, including significant trail experience. She’s slightly bigger than average, loves people and is very calm and non-reactive (either on the ground or in the saddle). She is initally difficult with new horses, tries to be dominant, but usually doesn’t achieve her goal, she does assimilate. Hekla is presently my main riding horse, Very safe on trails and smooth gaits (tho she is trotty). Auction starts September 22, 2009, runs to October 1st 2009. Opening bid $400.00.
Lif from Red Hill (Roskur X Lilja) US96200848: 4(?) gaited palomino mare, another purchase from Niels West. Lif was a brood mare – has little training and is quite shy. She’ll let you walk up to her in the pasture now and halter her – a major improvement. She had a couple months training last year, not ready for trails yet, but not crazy under saddle either. Large pretty mare. Lif's foal (born early Sept) has been purchased – this means she is not physically available until around the new year. $2,000.00/OBO
Rothadis fra Alfasaga (Laufi Fitjamyri X Osp fra Asi) US2005202997: 4 gaited. Rothadis started training this spring (Feb8th), she's done very well and is being ridden out, alone and has proven to be very unreactive. She’s quite large for her age, with great extension. She was evaluated at the young horse evaluations this month (Sept). Tolt is there. Rothadis enjoys people and learning, if something new is going on – she’s up for it! $4,000.00/OBO
Tildra fra Alfasaga (Svartbakur X Hekla Red Hill) US2007203874: 5 gaited black and white pinto mare. Tildra means “a girl in a fancy dress” or “a girl who likes to dress up”… something along those lines anyway. She is fancy indeed. 5 clean gaits – beautiful fluid movements and personality plus. She’ll be quite large and easy to train. Tildra is for sure competition caliber, Evaluated (young horse) in Sept 2009, did very well, as did all the Svarybakur offspring. $3,000.00/OBO
Taefa fra Alfasaga (Morgunn X Kolbrun Flesjuststodum) registration in process: 2007 5 gaited yellow dun mare: Taefa suits her, she IS a fox! She’s a full brother to Reifur and may carry the silver gene from her sire. Her sire is a Vakar son, her dam (now in GA) is out of 1st prize Blaer fra Hofdi. Taefa is a fast learner, average size, leads, loads and stands for the farrier. Everything a 2 year old needs to know how to do. Evaluated (young horse) in Sept 2009, did very well. $2,500.00/OBO
